My First Day

So, yesterday was my first day and my first night in my halls at Kingston and what a busy and exhausting day it it was!
I got up at 6.30am to double check everything so I didn't forget anything vital, but it turns out I left my hair dryer at home, slightly annoying to say the least, but luckily my flat mates are nice enough to lend me theres every now and again.
I had to arrive at Kingston to enrol at 9am just to collect a few bits and bobs like my student ID card, my Freshers wristband and also to sign up for a doctor which seems really weird to me.

Once I had enrolled, I went to get my keys for my room in halls and then me and my parents unpacked everything, all but my clothes anyway, my parents left me to do that later on, but everything else took about two hours to unpack.
Post-unpacking, we decided we were pretty hungry having got up ridiculously early and missing breakfast, we popped to Wagamama, which is just down the road. Those of you who live in Salisbury and enjoy popping to our Waga's will probably remember the waiter Jon. It turns out he's now working in the Kingston Waga's so we were able to have a nice chat to him. After that we went food shopping for the essentials, washing detergent, washing up liquid, beans, ketchup, etc. Just so my parents wouldn't feel guilty with me buying my own food and obviously making sure I would be able to get my five-a-day (I am now counting Ketchup as one). Once they'd dropped me and my food off they left me to finish up my room, unpacking clothes and decorating a little to make it feel a little more homely.

This is my bed (obviously)

Desk for all of my work needs.

My shelves with my glasses, drink and DVDs
An organised mess, grapes and kiwis to keep the parents happy.

We were told not to use blutack on the walls, so I assumes the wardrobe was allowed.

At this point, I was the only person in my flat but luckily two people arrived shorty after. Apparently four people have already moved in, however, we have yet to see 'Mr A', apparently people in the flat opposite have seen him and all we know is that he is in room A so it's an all-girl-flat as far as we know.

Last night we all found ourselves to be pretty knackered so we had a 'quiet one' and just went to the 'Space bar' one of our student union bars. We decided not to stay for too long because we were so exhausted and got home at around quarter to twelve. You're probably thinking that we're the worst freshers ever, but we have got a whole week to go and tonight it's the foam party.

Ta for now,

Harriet :)

10 days to go.

Twenty-one days ago I found out that I had been accepted by Kingston University; since then it has been all go.
I've been finding and collecting hundreds of things for my room and bathroom which makes me quite excited, however, it is also making it feel a little too real and this is quite daunting. Knowing that I'll have to cook for myself, wash all of my own clothes and keep my bedroom tidy without being told to do so make it ten times scarier, not even mentioning the money managing side of things.

I also know that I'm going to miss everyone who's still in Salisbury or at other universities so much. My friends who are also heading off to uni's such as UWE, Southampton, Manchester, Brighton and Portsmouth, are all pretty far away from each other so the only times we'll be able to meet up will be when we're all back at home. One of my friends and I have decided to have skype dinners every now and again so we don't lose touch, I'm not sure how well it will work, but we'll soon find out and I'll let you know. She's quite good at cooking so I'm hoping she might be able to teach me a few things over our video chats, otherwise I'll just be eating pasta, pizza and soup for the next three years and I'm sure that isn't healthy. My sister bought me a recipe book to write in your own recipes, hopefully it will come in handy.

A couple of weekends ago, I went with my parents to Southampton to do a massive Ikea shop where I had to buy the essentials like, plates, cutlery, saucepans etc. but i also got a few nonessentials including a cream, fluffy throw and a cushioned tray for a laptop. My sister came a long as well but I'm pretty sure she was more of a hinderance than a help because when we wheeled our trolley through the 'Children's Bedroom' section, she was sneaking cuddly toys into small sections of the trolley. You'd probably expect that to be a five year old sister, but no, she's fifteen.
As soon as we got home from Southampton I started packing, I have three large boxes, one for the bathroom and two for my bedroom and four slightly smaller boxes with DVDs and other things. I haven't even thought about packing clothes yet or even what clothes I'll be taking. At the moment it just feels as if it's going to be like going on holiday so I don't think reality has completely set in just yet.

Anyway, that's all for now.
